Safety & Liability Policy

Last updated: March 15, 2026

1. Our Commitment to Safety

Cleanbook maintains a zero tolerance policy for violence, threats, harassment, and discrimination. The safety of all users is our highest priority.

This policy applies to all interactions between users, both at properties and through the Cleanbook platform.

2. Identity Verification & Screening

2.1 Cleaner Identity Verification

All cleaners must complete third-party identity verification before accepting any cleaning jobs on the platform.

2.2 Background Checks

Cleaners may optionally complete a background check. Cleaners who have completed a background check will display a verification badge on their profile.

2.3 Customer Verification

All users must have a verified email address and a verified phone number. Customers must also have a valid payment method on file.

2.4 Verification Status

Background check verification status is displayed on cleaner profiles. All cleaners are ID-verified by default. Specific verification details are not shared with other users.

2.5 Ongoing Verification

Cleanbook may require periodic re-verification of identity and background checks to maintain platform safety standards.

2.6 Verification Limitations

No screening process is infallible. While we take reasonable measures to verify users, Cleanbook cannot guarantee the conduct of any user.

3. Property Access & Security

3.1 Customer Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate property details and access instructions
  • Disclose all known hazards or safety concerns at the property
  • Ensure the property is accessible at the scheduled time

3.2 Cleaner Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time for scheduled appointments
  • Follow all property access instructions provided by the customer
  • Do not access areas outside the scope of the cleaning service

3.3 Key Exchange

Key exchange arrangements are made directly between the customer and cleaner. Cleanbook is not responsible for lost or mishandled keys.

3.4 Unattended Access

When cleaners access a property without the owner present, timestamped photos must be taken upon arrival and departure to document the condition of the property.

Cleaners may be held liable for damage caused by negligence during the cleaning service.

5.3 Customer Liability

Customers may be held liable for injuries or damages resulting from undisclosed hazards at the property.

5.4 Platform Liability

Cleanbook operates as a marketplace and is not directly liable for damage or theft that occurs during cleaning services. Disputes are handled through the Dispute Resolution Policy.

5.5 Pre-Existing Damage

Cleaners should document pre-existing damage upon arrival with timestamped photos. This documentation serves as protection in the event of a dispute.

6. Insurance

  • Cleaners are strongly recommended to carry general liability insurance for their cleaning operations.
  • Cleanbook does not provide insurance coverage for cleaners, customers, or properties.
  • In business mode, property managers may require proof of insurance before assigning cleaners to properties.
